Visiting partner universities in China
As part of a DAAD project initiated by Prof Yuan, Prof Gust and Mr Schluer spent a week visiting the Inner Mongolia University of Technology (IMUT) in Hohhot and then the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) in Beijing. In Hohhot, he visited the departments of Material Science, Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics. During the visit, current research topics and extracts from the Wuppertal courses were presented in several lectures. There was also time to visit the laboratories of the departments. The DMG 5-axis machining centre was viewed with particular interest and interesting teaching models were presented for demonstrations in the subject of machine elements. A visit to the BIT took place in Beijing the following week. We would like to thank our colleagues from China for the very friendly welcome!
