Learning outcomes / competences:
The students are able to
- develop and design new technical systems by applying the methods of design systematics
- apply creativity methods in a meaningful combination,
- Define technical requirements and summarise them in a list of requirements as part of specifications and functional specifications
- Break down technical systems into solvable components using functional structures
- Select and present favourite solutions using evaluation methods
- differentiate between and design guide and transmission gears
- design and calculate spur and helical gears and gearboxes that can be derived from them, select gearboxes, couplings, belt and chain drives according to the application
- design a multi-stage gearbox and select a suitable electric drive
- analyse coupling gears, cam gears and simple planetary gears kinematically and carry out simple synthesis tasks
Contents:
Students familiarise themselves with the design and development process. They will be able to use modern methods for product development in a targeted and efficient manner. Students acquire knowledge about the procedures in the development and design process. They become familiar with problem-adapted methods and tools for the various work steps in the design process, such as functional and structural descriptions, heuristic methods for determining principles, error criticism and evaluation. The examination takes place in parallel to the lecture and tutorial as part of a project in the following semester. Students are given a task with a specified time frame and a description of the work to be done. The project work is carried out in teams of several students according to the basic principles of project management. Individual performance is assessed by means of a presentation in which each student presents detailed solutions to the group work. In addition, project documentation, which also contains individual content, must be submitted at the end of the following semester. However, the specific content is based on the respective task. For example, each student should submit at least one complete technical drawing of a component of the developed machine or new product.
