School of Mechanical Engineering and Safety Engineering

Special machine construction

Position in the degree programme:

Compulsory elective

Workload:

5 LP / 2 SWS

Type of proof:

Portfolio

Learning outcomes / competences:

The students are able to

  • design selected components of the special machine,
  • transfer the acquired theoretical knowledge to practical problems,
  • familiarise themselves with a given problem, solve it in teamwork and present the results, taking into account project and time management methods.

Contents:

Construction of a special machine

  • Use of special machines,
  • Function (handling, packaging, processing machine),
  • Components (axes, controls, drives),
  • Control (linear motor/ servo motor; synchronous/ asynchronous, pneumatics, feedback, machine axes),
  • sensors and camera technology,
  • Storage (parts provision, organisation, robotics),
  • automation and feeding,
  • grinding technology,
  • Calculation and design of the machine body, the control system (inertia adjustment) and the drive.

Legal principles

  • Theory (general and special machine construction),
  • Consolidation of knowledge through practical examples.

Excursions to the participating industrial companies will be part of the course.
